SMSC and British Values
SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) aspects of learning and British Values are at the heart at everything we do at Elmstead Wood Primary School and they are specifically taught through our PSHE and RE curriculum. We feel it is important as teachers to model effectively the values that form part of SMSC and endeavour to that in all teaching.
Through the children's SMSC learning they will get the opportunity to:
-
Explore your beliefs and the beliefs of others and reflect on your learning and experiences.
-
Think about the differences between right and wrong and what that means for your life.
-
Use a range of social skills in different contexts with people from varying backgrounds.
-
Explore different cultures and how they have shaped our own lives and the lives of others.
Their SMSC learning will also link with their learning about:
-
PSHE - Personal, Social, Health and Economic education
-
British Values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith
-
Rights Respecting
-
Learning behaviours
